Children grow up quickly, a truth most parents recognize, yet often overlook in the rush of daily life. They get the most splendid, high-quality, and fashionable dresses for their children to make them feel special at wedding events, birthday parties, and other occasions. However, children soon outgrow those dresses, making them useful only for a single occasion.
Our client faced the same problem with her daughter when she had to spend a fortune on a small flower girl dress. Only after a one-time usage, her little one outgrew the dress, but our client didn’t have the heart to let go of the same.
Our client validated the problem in the kidswear market. It was not just her, but numerous parents spending a significant amount on special occasion dresses and clothing, only for one-time usage. With a clear goal in mind to find a resolution to this problem, our client reached out to us to develop an aggregate marketplace where parents can sign up and rent out the preloved but high-quality clothes of their children.
The idea was simple and effective, one-time usage dresses still remain brand new and can be reused. By sharing them with other parents, owners don't have to let go of the dresses and the memories attached to them. When they are ready to let go, parents can even sell those preloved dresses on the Stylette marketplace.
The primary challenge was to develop an impactful rental marketplace website that garners trust and removes the feeling of aversion in parents.
The client's business model involved parents sharing pre-loved clothes with other parents. Without P2P support, facilitating the business model was not possible.
The client required a comprehensive vendor management system to handle peer registrations, commission charges, and get access to all their bookings and orders.
The platform was developed for parents all over the US, and thus required an easy and efficient cataloging system through which parents can effortlessly upload preloved dresses.
Parents may fear the beautiful dresses of their children getting damaged during the rental process. For this, the client required something to safeguard the dresses.
The client wanted that when parents are ready to let go of their children’s preloved dresses, they should get the option to sell them on the platform itself.
Being the most versatile rental software, Yo!Rent provided built-in support for most of the client's requirements. Selecting it as our base solution, we did multiple customizations in the software, particularly in the front-end and back-end design, to meet the complete requirements of the client.
We proposed an online workflow suitable for rent and sales operations. The workflow was fully customizable and also allowed the client to add rental security and an eSign option during checkout.
Our team worked on a new UI/UX design that resonated with the client's business idea and value proposition, highlighting the warmth and shared sentiment of passing down stories through dresses worn on special days.
We further simplified the back-end design for all user types, including admins, dress owners, and parents, so that they can conveniently create listings, manage orders, track returns, and withdraw earnings.
We simplified the navigation on the client's marketplace by introducing segmented product categories for rental, sales, and preloved dresses. These categories are synced with the back-end inventory and update automatically in the navigation as parents list a dress.
For monetizing on the business model, Yo!Rent provided support for independent shop creation, where all parents and even kidswear sellers can upload products and create dedicated storefronts for their shop's products.
Many vendors may already have their Shopify stores for selling kidswear products. To streamline the onboarding process for them, we added the option to import and sync product inventory and catalog from their Shopify stores.
Stylette follows the circular economy model to foster a community of parents interested in helping each other provide the best for their children. It is a safe and collaborative space where parents can share the preloved dresses of their young ones without the need to let go of their cherished memories.
In our exclusive build for the Pixii, the required business configurations were met with a convergence of existing and custom-developed features.
